College Bio
Shippy earned a spot on the 2018 AFCA All-America Second-Team. He was Alcorn’s defensive leader, starting in 12 of 13 games. Shippy played a big role in the Braves leading the nation in both sacks and tackles for a loss. Individually, he ended the year with 38 tackles, 8.0 sacks and 14.5 tackles for a loss.

Shippy wrapped up 39 tackles in 2016 including 17 solo. He registered 2.5 sacks and 14.5 tackles for a loss. Shippy recorded eight tackles at Mississippi Valley St. and seven against Southern.

Campus Report

He was too big to play little league football, so his first taste was in ninth grade. He played fullback before the switch to defense and the rest has unfolded very well for the Miami, Florida born Shippy. In high school he was a top-flight wrestler finishing fourth in state.

Love the get off Shippy possesses and despite being a bit undersized for an interior lineman he generates a hell of a push to drive his man backwards and collapsing the pocket. He is violent when penetrating the pocket. Fun to watch.

He is strong, quick and powerful. His motor is always running. Very tough. Great character. Outstanding work ethic. Feel he has some good balance and lateral agility for a player his size. Built to split double teams.

Overall, he is an undersized disruptor who could turn into a solid back-up in a single gap defense. Should garner a camp invite and that doesn’t mean he can’t sneak into the final day of the NFL Draft. Feel like he has a lot of upside a team can develop.

Again, that is just an observation with players like Grady Jarrett, Deardri Senat and former Falcon Garrison Smith on their roster. Shippy is similar in size and stature of what Atlanta prefers at the position. Shippy also fits the style and preference of second-year head coach Matt Patricia of the Detroit Lions. The Lions use plenty of big men that are under 300-pounds.
