Schleuger played running back (6-foot-3 245lbs.) in high school, amassing over 5,000 yards (5,452) for the West Hancock Eagles. Grades hampered him from getting serious looks from schools and that eventually led him to Iowa Western Community College as a walk-on. A late additional to the wrestling team which earned him some scholarship money, he went from regional qualifier to finishing in the top eight at nationals.

He played tight end at the JUCO level prior to arriving at Northern Iowa playing offensive tackle. His played continued to blossom and he was able to catch on with the Blazers, where he played all three positions on the offensive line, but specialized at guard.

Schleuger was named All-Conference USA Second Team during his final season at UAB. He weighed 270 at Iowa Western, 285 at Northan Iowa and 305 after his final season with the Blazers. His athleticism stands out above all else at his position. He is inner-changeable and has learned to snap. Very quick learner and has continued to grow each and every season. He plays with good effort and intelligence. Schleuger gets to the second level quickly.

He has proven to be a dependable and durable offensive lineman, with a blue-collar approach. Late draftable prospect at best and surely should be an undrafted free agent at the conclusion of the NFL Draft.
