Navaaro Highlights

Grades were practically the only thing that could keep Turner away from big D1 schools after rushing for nearly 3,000 yards (2,987) and 55 touchdowns his senior season in high school at Birdville High School in Texas.

If his grades would have been up to par Turner was set to attend Oklahoma to play along with the likes of fellow running backs Joe Mixon and Rodney Anderson. That should give a real sense the talent that resides in his overall skill set. The lapse between him acquiring the needed score where not cohesive to the verbal commitment staying intact and his Sooners’ opportunity was off the board leaving Turner to play JUCO football at Navarro.

Turner played two seasons with the Bulldogs rushing for a career high 741 yards as a sophomore. The birth of his son would take Turner off the field and establish the foundation of being a father. He was working normal 9-to-5 jobs off the field before his chance at Tarleton State came along. It was his moment to seize the opportunity that eluded him out of high school. In 2018, Turner burst onto the Lone Star Conference scene rushing for 1,469 yards and 22 touchdowns.

Productive small-school running with NFL measurables. He has a durable frame and lower body power to get good foward lean. Turner can be used as a versatile option out of the back-field. He can be effective in the slot as well as playing tailback. Very competitive with good character. Catches the ball with ease. Turner is patient running the ball it might seem like he lacks the elusiveness and lateral quickness, but he makes defenders miss. He is tough in between the tackles showing good balance.

If his Pro Day numbers show the speed to back-up his production, he will very much be in the mix as a priority free agent after the conclusion of the NFL Draft. NFL teams devalue the position on draft day meaning Turner and others must prove their worth in rookie camp. NFL team’s are curious to know more about Turner which is never a bad thing as the NFL Draft approaches.
