– What were your expectations arriving in college? What are your expectations moving forward?
SD – I’ve always been the biggest kid in my class. Even since kindergarten. Always picked first at tug-of-war and towards the end for everythign else.
– What is your overall record at tug-of-war?
ER – I don’t lose much. If I lose the other guys have four or five of me on the other side.
– When did you start playing football?
SD – Since 7th grade. In Texas it’s based on weight. I was 40-pounds heavier than the other kids, maybe not that much, but you get the idea. I would be playing against guys about four or five years older than me. Actually a funny story. I didn’t like football at all in 7th grade. Really the first year I didn’t adapt to playing in the sport or the coaching style. Really wanted to quit after the first year but coaches in middle school and my parents convinced me to give it one more year. If you don’t like it quit. I have it one more year and never looked back. The life lessons it has taught me. The determination to never quit. It’s awesome I love the game.
Character is going to be a added bonus when the evaluation of Drango is being calculated into his overall NFL Draft value. Solid family background and his parents made it to very home game (48 starts). Growing up in Texas he was a passionate Longhorns fan, and had opportunity to play his college football there. He felt compelled to go to Baylor to help establish a new tradition of success in their program.
On the field, Drango is a massive tackle who played in a offense that played a very fast tempo of football. It should be noted his endurance shouldn’t be a factor due to that particular style. He is a very technically based player who relies on the fundamentals of his craft to get his edge on his opponent. Drango displays a powerful punch and can man handle defensive linemen and redirect out of the play. Plays to the whistle and sustains his blocks.
