Nick Vannett had to make a deal to play football with his father, at the time he was swimming at a country club, but his desire was to suit up on the field. A deal was made and eventually Vannett established himself as one of the top tight end prospects in the country. Invited to the Senior Bowl he aimed at showing NFL Scouts that he is more than just an extremely talented pass-blocking and wanted to demonstrate his knack for hauling in catches – Which he did very nicely. Vannett has great length and athleticism. Took it upon himself to raise his level of play blocking once teammate Jeff Heuerman was selected in the third-round by the Denver Broncos last year. Vannett improved his hand placement on defenders and ability to fire off the ball. Fantastic catch radius and redzone target ability. Has a frame to add more bulk, soft hands and decent body control to react to poorly thrown balls.
