Coming Soon…
His senior season was derailed by an ACL injury suffered a torn ACL and MCL in his right knee during the first quarter Oct. 22 against Middle Tennessee. Scherer is currently rehabbing and without any setbacks will be ready to go on his Pro Day.
Scherer grew up in a household built on the love for football. His father coached him and his brothers made life in the Scherer household a place packed with football passion.
Growing he up played quarterback, running back, fullback, linebacker and even left guard. He began playing at the age of fives years old and revealed he was a “little chunky” when he was at such a young age. He played left guard and eventually moved to fullback. It was not until he reached fifth grade that he started to thin out and the athletic ability began to be scene.
In his eighth grade year of football Scherer scored 50 touchdowns in one season, but that was not his position heading into high school. He played linebacker until the starting running back got injured (second game in HS) and he played running back that night and rushed for 300-yards in that game.
Injuries sidelined the team’s linebacker as well and his coach decided to keep Scherer at linebacker. Scherer is now poised to be one of the most productive linebackers in Missouri Tigers history.
Scherer took take aim at chasing his new head coach Barry Odom on the schools all-time tackle list. Team oriented and film based, Scherer has all the NFL intangibles to become a factor in the 2017 NFL Draft. Scherer brings athleticism and passion – two things when combined can become lethal.
He passes the eyeball test and has the desired NFL frame for the position of linebacker. More importantly he possesses the athleticism to move sideline to sideline and can play in space. Scherer shows up in all phases of the game and can stay on the field for all three downs. He locates the ball regularly snap after snap and sheds block to stay clean. Ideally he has the mental make-up and ability to play in the NFL for and extended time. Solid character and leader he’ll fit nicely into almost any defensive scheme.
