Foggie is fun loving versatile linebacker that should be a hot commodity as the 2019 NFL Draft approaches. Gifted athletically at an early age, Fog Dog as his teammates like to call him, was the kid scoring touchdown after touchdown during his days playing fullback on the Pop-Warner gridiron. Defenses could not stop him and the 22-Dive play.
That was the foundation of the player he eventually turned into at UNC Charlotte. Recruited as a receiver and played for the 49ers at that position before asking former head coach Brad Lambert the opportunity to switch sides of the ball. It allowed Foggie to showcase that same athleticism.
New to the position he was named 2017 Honorable Mention All-Conference USA and 2018 Second Team All-Conference USA. That provides possible suitors the confidence that he learns quickly and there is plenty of untapped potential to develop in the hybrid-type linebacker.
Very smart, heady football player with good instincts. He possesses the knack for being in the right place at the right time. Has good eyes. Foggie is not afraid to hit and support in the running game but his biggest asset and ticket to the pros is his exceptional open field qualities. Instinctive and shows good range. Speed is there to cover running backs and tight ends. Foggie shows good awareness in zone coverage. He tied for third in the FBS with six others with six interceptions and his three defensive touchdowns are an all-time record at UNC Charlotte. Love his versatility and positive attitude.
Foggie has the combination of size and speed and ball skills and cover ability to possibly sneak into the mid-to-late rounds of the NFL Draft. That evaluation was shared via a scout who hails from the AFC South. Seems like a very reasonable opinion on the talented 49ers linebacker.
His March 22nd Pro Day will can really boost his stock with solid speed drills numbers to confirm his strength to excel as a coverage linebacker at the next level.
