Long’s mother and father have attended every football game he has played since he was seven years old. The Sayreville, N.J. native, played his high school football at powerhouse St. Peter’s Prep and his opportunities to get on the field were limited early on. He transferred to ESU from Nassau CC after spending his redshirt year at Troy simply because he wanted to be closer to home.
He decided to try out long snapper to get on the field more quickly and now several years later he resides as one of the top long snapping prospects available in the 2018 NFL Draft. Long is 6-foot-4 and 255 pounds and provides a great buffer between the punter or kicker after the ball is snapped compared to a lot of other smaller sized snappers.
Working with former NFL Special Teams Coordinator Gary Zauner who now specializes in tutoring the techniques in the category, Long shined among the others at the camp. He scored a perfect score according at the camp.
