Grades hampered McCoy from having a larger landscape leaving Villa Rica High School in Georgia. He originally began his college career at Atlanta Sports Academy and then proceeded to get himself situated at Shorter. The breakout season for McCoy was in 2015, when he rushed for 1,489, along with 10 touchdowns. Most impressive was his 7.2 yards per carry and the stage was set for another super season.
McCoy suffered a back injury, and it derailed the highly anticipated encore season in 2016, which left him with 2017 to make his final impression of NFL Scouts. It took him six weeks to recover and another three months before he was back to 100 percent. Thickly built, with magazine sculpted muscle arms, McCoy is swift between-the-tackles runner who gets downhill.
Moves like a wrecking ball and busts arm tackles. He despises the notion of going down at first contact especially to the likes of a defensive back. McCoy possesses short area burst and is a natural runner showing the vision necessary to pick up yards when the holes disappear. Prides his play in pass protection and mans up with defensive players very well.
McCoy’s 40-time may cause some to disregard his overall ability, but his compact size and return to good health should garner some rookie camp invites and chance to impress coaching staffs.
