Penn State, OL
2011 All-Big Ten Football Honorable Mention with invites to both the Senior Bowl and NFL Scouting Combine. The three year starter helped maintain continuity on an offensive line is essential to the productivity of any offense. Fifth-year senior Johnnie Troutman again played a central role in finding that continuity and cohesion for the Nittany Lion O-Line in 2011. Earned degree in criminal law and justice. Roommate is Devon Still defensive tackle. 'I would" Troutman said laughing when answering who would win in a arm wrestling match between him and his roommate Still.
Who He Might Resemble
"I try to look at all the top guys and take a little something from there game and try learn from it, because there are a lot of great players in the NFL. You just want to take a little something from everybody to become a great player and then do your own thing because you want to make a name for yourself."
What Might Get Him Noticed
"I think everyone loves that I’m a great run blocker, but I feel as though I’m a good pass blocker. I know there is room for improvement."
When Was NFL In Your Sight
"It was definitely great just going there (Penn State). It was a humbling experience coming out of high school, being one of the top guys in the state. Then you get there and everybody is a top athlete and now you’re a small fish in a big pond instead of being a big fish in a small pond. I really started to believe I could go pro, probably my red-shirt junior year when people I played with came back and told me I have a great opportunity; you’re playing well and got the size and everything, so keep doing what you’re doing. That is really when I got in my head. Then after that kept working hard."
When Scouts Might Miss
"Definitely, I think for me being like a three-year starter at Penn State I pretty much knew the play calling and what the defense wanted to do. All the checks and stuff at the line of scrimmage and because we had a new center I would definitely help him out and make calls to help us out and put us in the best situation."
College2Pro.com Perspective
Three-year starter. Well built. Can lock on and steer defenders. Can sit and anchor and usually handle the bull rush. Isn't the most athletic but has some recovery ability and balance. Size, strength and power to make it in the NFL at guard.
