HIGH SCHOOL: Lettered in football (Coach Mike Parsons) and basketball at Clovis West High in Fresno, Calif. … A two-time, first-team All-Tri-River Athletic Conference defensive back… Named his team’s Defensive Most Valuable Player as a senior.

MORE ON ANDRE: A communication studies major… Enjoys watching action and sports movies… The Lion King, Glory Road and Scarface are three of his favorites… Derrick Chachere, his dad, played seven seasons in the Arena Football League including five with the San José SaberCats… He is a native of Fresno, California.

Chachere arrived at the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl with the label as one of the top Mountain West defensive backs in the conference. He left Los Angeles with NFL Scouts craving more of the 6-foot-1 and 197 pound Spartans star with an invitation to the NFL Combine. Superb length and ability to break on the football, Chachere can bait quarterbacks into mistakes. A junior team captain, he possesses leadership qualities and swagger to bring a positive pulse to the secondary and defense overall.

There is a sense to play that much harder up front when you know the corners have the knack for the big play that can change the game. Chachere stats would be much larger if offense chose to throw his way, but in true shutdown corner fashion they elected to shy away from the likes of No. 21 when passing the football. He still managed 46 tackles, that ranked him seventh overall on the San Jose State defense. Good straight-line speed and chase speed to close.

He displays nice suddenness out of his breaks and quick hips for his size. Physical enough and has great range. Chachere has a long tall frame and range which make him a hot commodity. Mentally tough and is not wowed by the big stage.
