Kevin Colbert joined the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2000 as the Director of Football Operations, helping to establish himself as one of the top evaluators in the National Football League. He helped assemble two Super Bowl winning teams. In 2010, Colbert was named the Steelers’ first general manager and was placed in charge of player transactions and acquisitions as the head executive in the Steelers organization.
The history and habits of the Steelers are dated back to 2010 when Colbert absorbed the general manager tag. Despite his influence and abilities prior to that date we focus on the drafts since the tag was associated with this Pittsburgh native.

Round 3:
Kevin Dotson, OL, Louisiana
Davon Hamilton, DL, Ohio State
Darrell Taylor, Edge, Tennessee
Pick Is In (Compensatory pick)
Ben Bredeson, OL, Michigan | 6’5 320 – Again, this is under the assumption that Bud Dupree is retained in free agency and Pittsburgh investing early in an edge rusher opposite of T.J. Watt. B.J. Finney is a free agent and Ramon Foster is unlikely to be brought back leaving the offensive line due for a little upgrade in influx of top end talent. Bredeson is one nasty SOB to put it the simplest way possible. Definitely would be embraced by Steeler Nation immediately.

Possible Selections
Jared Pinkney, TE, Vanderbilt 6-4 254 (Steelers prefer above 260lbs.)
Van Jefferson, WR, Florida
Jason Strowbridge, DL, North Carolina (lighter than they prefer but love his game)
Pick Is In (99 via Miami)
Leki Fotu, DT, Utah | 6’5 323 – Pittsburgh is unlikely to match the market value that Javon Hargrave will receive. It doesn’t necessarily put the team on its heels to replace him but puts them on notice that a key piece to the defensive front is now missing.
Pick Is In (114)
Jalen Hurts, QB, Oklahoma | 6’2 218 – It was hard to know exactly what Mason Rudolph had in potential last season. The offense was a mess at all skill positions, but on the horizon a new quarterback is upon Steelers Nation, like it or not.

Amik Robertson, DB, LA Tech | 5’9 183 – Tough as nails defensive back, despite not being that big. Terrific value in the sixth round. Bachie is another to keep an eye on especially with some questions on who Pittsburgh may keep at the position this off-season.

Blake Ferguson, LS, LSU | 6’3 235 – Current long snapper is a free agent and if Pittsburgh as to pinch pennies in an effort to keep Dupree they may elect to snatch Ferguson up in the NFL Draft. His brother Reid Ferguson another LSU alum is the current long snapper for the Buffalo Bills.
