What You Need to Know
Over the last eight NFL Drafts there have been 254 total wide receivers selected and amongst those 254 pass catchers, 29 have gone in the first round overall. That is an average of 31.7 wide receivers per year getting selected in the NFL Draft. The NFL has transitioned into a passing dominated league, but talent is still the ultimate evaluated. Remember, in 2008, the NFL Draft has zero wide receivers taken but did find 10 taken in Round 2.

2020 Wide Receiver Prospects

1. Jerry Jeudy

Alabama
SEC
Height 6’0 Weight 192
Last Three Crimson Tide wide receivers drafted
2018 – Calvin Ridley Round 1
2017 – ArDarius Stewart Round 3
2015 – Amari Cooper Round 1

Game Notes – It is hard not to get excited when thinking about the impact Jeudy can make in the NFL. Possesses all the traits to be considered a legit No. 1 receiver. A natural pass catcher who is simply special. Shows great concentration on a variety of balls thrown his way. Like a world class chef preparing a meal, Jeudy displays a sense of calculated class when securing the football. Has the speed to separate early off his route.

2. Laviska Shenault

Colorado
PAC-12
Height 6’02” Weight 220
Last Three Buffalos wide receivers drafted
2019 – Juan Winfree Round 6
2014 – Paul Richardson Round 2
2012 – Toney Clemons Round 7

Game Notes – Colorado is not exactly the hotbed for NFL receivers. Michael Westbrook still haunts the minds with his inability to ever become a dominate NFL receiver. Paul Richardson was the latest of highly touted prospects coming out that never really materialized in the NFL. Shenault may be the one to break the mold. Deebo Samuel 2.0, is the best way to describe the abilities of the Buffalo wideout. He can’t be pressed at the line. Too strong. A receiver who relishes in the idea of contact. Truth be told I think he may be a better runner than some running backs in this class. Excels after the catch.

3. Tee Higgins

Clemson
ACC
Height 6’03” Weight 205
Last Three Tigers wide receivers drafted
2019 – Hunter Renfrow Round 5
2018 – Deon Cain Round 6
2018 – Ray-Ray McCloud Round 6

4. CeeDee Lamb

Oklahoma
BIG-12
Height 6’01” Weight 189
Last Three Sooners wide receivers drafted
2019 – Marquise Brown Round 1
2017 – Dede Westbrook Round 4
2016 – Sterling Shepard Round 2

Game Notes – Lincoln Riley missed not having Hollywood Brown around in 2019. Brown who was selected in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Riley did have Lamb who compares very favorably to the Baltimore Ravens wideout. Lamb is a smooth route runner and receiver. He can take the top off defenses better than almost any other receiver in this draft class. Has that second gear that makes your jaw drop as he streaks down the field.

5. Van Jefferson

Florida
SEC
Height 6’02 Weight 196
Last three Gators receives drafted
2018 – Antonio Callaway Round 4
2016 – Demarcus Robinson Round 4
2015 – Andre Debose Round 7

Game Notes – A crafty receiver who uses all means necessary to make to the catch. He does a good job of pushing off (a skill not a knock) to get separation. Could argue not receiver in the class does a better job climbing the so-called ladder and making the difficult and contested catch. He is long and fast. Shows superb concentration. Knows how to body up on a defender to win the catch.

6. Justin Jefferson

LSU
SEC
Height 6’01” Weight 185
Last three Tigers receivers drafted
2018 – D.J. Chark Round 2
2018 – Russell Gage Round 6
2017 – Malachi Dupre Round 7

Game Notes – The more you watch him the more you grow enamored with his ability. Joe Burrow was aided but the fine skills this young man possesses. Appears to have a fine knowledge of the route tree and sinks his hips nicely. Jefferson does a magnificent job of plucking the ball out of midair. Eyes the ball clean and gets underneath it. Wins the ball consistently.

7. Chase Claypool

Notre Dame
Independent
Height 6’03” Weight 229
Last Three Fighting Irish receivers drafted
2019 – Miles Boykin Round 3
2018 – Equanimeous St. Brown Round 6
2016 – Will Fuller Round 1

8. Michael Pittman

PAC-12
Height 6’03” Weight 225
Last Three Trojans wide receivers drafted
2017 – JuJu Smith-Schuster Round 2
2015 – Nelson Agholor Round 1
2014 – Marqise Lee Round 2

SEC
Height 6’0” Weight 190
Last Three Crimson Tide receivers drafted
2018 – Calvin Ridley Round 1
2017 – ArDarius Stewart Round 3
2015 – Amari Cooper Round 1

Game Notes – Playing across the Jeudy hides the talent that resides in Ruggs and in vice versa it helps Jeudy. Ruggs has a knack for making the acrobatic catches. Watching him extend and contort is body to the ball might be the best in the class.

10. Collin Johnson

Texas
